JOB TITLE: Route Driver

DEPARTMENT: Delivery

REPORTS TO: Assistant Distribution Center Supervisor

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position deals with delivering ice to customers. The route driver is assigned a specific geographic region, for which they will service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Driving and maintaining a clean company truck.
2. Performing pre and post trip inspections.
3. Unloading and delivering ice to customers.
3. Producing invoices for each delivery.
4. Establish great customer service and communication skills.
5. Responsible for all driver "tools" including; handhelds, printers, handcarts and truck.
6. Picking up merchandisers.
7. Possess a safe driving record and follow all road safety laws.
8. Make and assume other duties and responsibilities required or assigned by management.

CONTACTS:

Internal: Delivery Supervisor, Forklift Operator Two, Dispatchers and other personnel

External: Customers and warehouse personnel

OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires a minimum of a class B CDL license for a route driver and a minimum class A CDL license for a tractor trailer driver. This is a professional driver position and must be extremely careful on the roads. Must possess clean driving record.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

No lead or supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have a High School education or GED. Three years previous driver experience preferred and route delivery important. Tractor trailer drivers must have previous long haul experience. Must have basic math skills and exceptional customer relations skill.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to drive in stressful environments. Unloading and loading up merchandisers with product. Required to lift 40 lbs throughout the day. Required to work in all elements outside.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROPERTY, FUNDS AND INFORMATION

This position has a direct responsibility for property, funds and information. This individual must adhere and follow all corporate policies and procedures. Responsible for truck and all other driver tools. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
