 Restaurant Assistant Manager – Hospitality / Food Service

Job Responsibilities

As an Assistant Manager, you will support the General Manager in overseeing and coordinating all operational aspects of the restaurant in order to ensure a good working environment and to maintain our high standards of service. Above all, you will embody our company’s commitment to providing our customers with the best and most memorable possible dining experience.

Your specific duties as an Assistant Manager will include:

  • Ensuring that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times
  • Supervising employees in food preparation including the cutting, grating, and/or slicing of fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, breads, desserts, and party trays
  • Working the various food service positions as needed, including taking orders in person or by telephone, cashiering, chip and pickling, catering, expediting, preparing orders to go, and floating in all positions
  • Learning all job positions and functions and then being able to instruct others on how to perform those same functions
  • Supervising front-of-house staff and back-of-house employees, to include scheduling, hiring, training, disciplining, evaluating and/or firing staff
  • Addressing and resolving customer complaints and issues
  • Forecasting and effectively meeting payroll standards
  • Inventorying, ordering, checking in, and setting par levels for all product that is purchased for your restaurant
  • Opening and closing the restaurant

Job Requirements

As an Assistant Manager, you must have a positive and outgoing personality along with a strong work ethic and a hospitality-minded approach to customer service. You must also have good leadership skills and sound judgment and decision-making abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with staff and coworkers as well as customers.

Specific qualifications for the Assistant Manager position include:

  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • 21 years of age or older
  • 6 months of work experience; restaurant experience, a plus
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including open shifts, mid shifts, close shifts, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English
  • Ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, counting change correctly, and handling, organizing and balancing money and credit card charge slips
  • Ability to comply with all applicable city Department of Health regulations
  • Willingness to comply with Jasons Delis dress code policies
  • Customer service experience, a plus
