Job Description
The Databse Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the activities of the Database Teams (Oracle, SQL and Informix) associated with supporting customers or supporting OneNecks internal technical infrastructure. The Operations Manager provides strategic and tactical aspects of specified OneNeck technical initiatives, works closely with Customer Management to develop and provide solutions based on customer requirements and promote a professional attitude amongst the staff that will provide confidence and assurance to new and existing customers.The Operations Manager is continually looking to improve processes, share new ideas and stay current in technologies. The Operations Manager identifies training based on the needs of the staff to support changes in technology, promotes an environment of continuous improvement through the implementation of processes, procedures and controls utilizing ITIL standards and ensures the staff provides high quality services through the establishment of consistent, repeatable processes.
- Provide leadership to technical teams in a large-scale multi-system multi-customer environment
- Assure timely and accurate delivery of routine system administration and management functions
- Develop, maintain, and document operational policies and procedures
- Provide strategic and tactical vision to senior management
- Provide strategic and tactical direction to the technical staff
- Recruit, hire, evaluate, train, develop, and lead department personnel
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships among departments
- Promote the corporate culture of personal responsibility, teamwork, and focus on meeting client needs
- Provide cross-functional leadership to resolve critical client problems
- Provide Pre-Sales, Sales, and Marketing technical support as requested
- Provide routine status reports to senior management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering OR 4+ years of professional work experience
- 10+ years of experience in IT-related field
- 2+ years of management experience
- Experience managing a team of 10-15 individuals
- Experience in building and maintaining Oracle E-Business Suite operating
environments through a deep understanding of the Oracle ERP application and business
requirements - Experience working with business and technical teams to develop, apply and support Oracle E-Business Suite specific processes, tools and environments
- Proven experience providing data management solutions to include automation of routine database administration functions, database security management, high-availability architectures, disaster recovery, and tools adoption in an Oracle environment
- Strong background in IT Customer Support
- Experienced in understanding and meeting the expectations of business entities
- Practiced in teamwork and initiative-building techniques.
- Seasoned in Information Technology methodologies and practices.
- Experienced in operating in a continuous improvement mode.
- Prefer familiarity with ITIL standards and practices, or analogous IT service standards and benchmarks.
- ITIL v3 Foundations Certification preferred.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills with ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners.
- Ability to understand technical issues and translate those issues in terms of business / customer / organizational needs.
- Superior organization, management and leadership abilities.
- Strong interpersonal abilities and personnel management techniques.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
