Teacher's Assistant (Special Education) at Scottsdale

Looking to work with youth and make a difference in a childs life? Devereux Day School serves students with moderate to severe behavioral and emotional needs by providing a safe and secure environment and an atmosphere that allows students to grow personally and educationally.

Were recruiting for a full-time TEACHERS ASSISTANT for our day school,on the campus of our residential treatment center in Scottsdale.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm.

What does a typical day look like for a Teachers Assistant?

-Assist teacher with daily lessons
-Monitor behavior
-Management of classroom
-Supervise lunch/breakfast
-Guiding students to socially appropriate behavior
-Weekly staff meetings
-Utilize various instructional strategies
-Supervise transition of students
-Daily assessment of student progress
-De-escalating negative behaviors
-Most importantly...be an amazing role-model!

Job Requirements

- High School Diploma or GED required (Bachelors degree in relevant fieldpreferred).

-Experience working with children/adolescentswith behavioral/emotional needsrequired (in a classroom setting preferred).

Physical Requirements:

- Pre-employment Physical and Job Demand Assessment (to test range of motion to perform physical interventions). Ability to liftup to 30lbs to physically intervene with clients.

- Significant and frequent amounts of walking, sitting, stooping, bending & standing required.

- Frequent planned, outside activities causing exposure to sunlight and heat

- Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes. Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc. Good manual dexterity.
