Linux Systems Administrator at Phoenix

Our client is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator in Phoenix, Arizona (AZ). This is a small IT Team supporting Universities worldwide. They are very dynamic and currently support universities in UK, Mexico and India. The team does their own design, implementation and support, so they own it and do it all. Everyone in our clients has a chance to lead and make a difference. The Linux Systems Administrator will build and support Linux servers (Red Hat 5.3) both physical and virtual environment (VMware / vCenter 5). The Administrator will also help in ESX upgrades, Vmotion, and P2V migrations. Willingness to learn new skills and technologies is part of the mentality. In other words, someone whose only experience is to build servers and load the OS based on a ticket is not going to be considered.

Qualifications:

• Able to build and support Linux servers (Red Hat 5.3) both physical and virtual environment (VMware / vCenter 5)


• Experience in VMware is a must have and this candidate should be able to grow in this space to be able to help in ESX upgrades, Vmotion, P2V migrations, etc


• We are looking for someone who has done troubleshooting in the past and also has understanding of basic network technologies like routing, load balancing, firewalls, etc


• This candidate should have experience with alert & monitoring tools. It doesnt matter which specific tool as long as the fundamentals are there (preferred tools Nagios, Zabbix, Intermapper, SiteScope, ManageEngine, etc)


• Experience with storage NAS (NetApp) and SAN (Hitachi) is needed


• Experience with Backups administration will give this candidate a great edge
