ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION:

Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Division of Nursing Services, Pediatric Outpatient Department, Chinle, AZ. 

POSITION DETAILS:  Permanent - One (1) Vacancy

Salary range: $57,979.00 - $82,131.00 (Annually)

Promotion potential: GS-11

Travel Required: Yes - 1-5 days per month

Supervisory/Managerial Position:  No

Relocation Expenses Paid:  Relocation expenses are not authorized and will not be paid.

  • Provides case management and clinical coordination for patients in Pediatric case management to process patient assessment, coordination of care, integration of services and follow-up and evaluations.
  • Arranges specialty appointments and procedures for patients who need further care of continuity of care at other facilities.
  • Obtains results of labs, tests, and scans done at outside facilities and obtains discharge summaries and other medical records from other hospitals on disease registry patients.
  • Documents all patient and family education, barriers, methods, level of understanding, return demonstration and evaluation in the EHR using the appropriate education codes and methods.
  • Performs comprehensive professional nursing duties for the care of patients with a variety of injuries and illnesses in various outpatient departments.  Performs nursing care for patients in all age groups and their families who present an unlimited range of nursing care for patients in all age groups and their families who present different health related problems.

All applicants must meet the qualification requirements of this position by the closing date of the job announcement: Thursday, July 25, 2013. 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Degree or diploma from a  professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

IN ADDITION TO BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level to qualify for the GS-10 grade level; Candidates must have had 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level to qualify for the GS-11 grade level.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.  To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.  Examples of the type of experience that will be credited are carrying out the duties of performing professional nursing principles, practices, and procedures required to provide nursing are to ambulatory patients with a wide variety of conditions which also involves consideration of the physical and psycho/socio-cultural aspects.  Must have the knowledge of and experience with a wide variety of adult and pediatric medical disorders.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: For GS-10, not applicable.  For GS-11, Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (PH. D. or equivalent) or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education is qualifying.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Candidates applying under the provisions of the Merit Promotion Plan, applicants must have completed 52 weeks of service at the GS-09 grade level to qualify for the GS-10 grade level; candidates must have completed 52 weeks of service at the GS-10 grade level to qualify for the GS-11 grade level.
