Field Clinical Engineer at Phoenix

POSITION SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, the Field Clinical Engineer is a field-based employee whose primary responsibilities are for supporting new technologies in Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) and Cardiac Surgery (CS) in the introduction, implementation and follow-up of clinical trials (IDE, Research and PRS). This includes implant and device technical and clinical support, data collection and follow-up support. Trains clinical investigators and staff on protocols and study devices. Serves as a technical resource between CRM and the investigators. Serves as a key contact to investigators. Assures data compliance and quality. Provides training and transfer of knowledge for new technologies to the sales and investigators. Support field sales activities as requested by management. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Support for IDE clinical trials
    • Assist in identifying, interviewing and screening potential investigators
    • Perform pre-study visits, implants and follow-ups, data collection and validation, pre-monitoring
    • Assist in site training for study start-up
    • Assist in product application and troubleshooting
    • Is present for clinical implant support
    • Work with sites during study to ensure compliance and data quality
  • Training to clinical sites, peers, sales, and patients
  • Support Clinical sites/investigators as technical and clinical resource for CRM/CS products/studies
  • Assist with monitoring as requested, ensure site data compliance/integrity
  • Support for sales for presentations, training sessions, and implants (upon management request)
  • Assist in field troubleshooting, education, field marketing activities
  • Develop strong relationship with customers
  • Present and publish data

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
  • PRS study support may be requested by management or sales
  • Perform other related duties as required in support of company and departmental objectives.
     
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Field based, home office
  • Works in clinical centers in territory, may travel as back-up to other territories

 RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Nursing or Science or equivalent experience desired. MS preferred. Experience: Prior experience work experience of 4 to 6 years in hospital, EP or Cath lab as a technician is highly desirable. NASPE certification also a distinct plus. Preferred 2-3 years experience as an FCE. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with investigators
  • Ability for clinical and technical aptitude
  • Motivated self starter, ability to work independently, self disciplined
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel frequently within region is required with occasional travel outside of region
  • Ability to work well with sales representative, clinical group and marketing personnel as well as with hospital staff and physicians.
  • Ability to effectively present in large or small groups
