Sr. Software Engineer

Job Title:  Senior Software EngineerJob Purpose: Limelight Networks’ Software Engineering organization is currently seeking a senior level Software Engineer.  Along with other members of the CONTROL development team, the person in this role will be responsible for the technical selections and the design of web applications and RESTful Services that have direct business impact and will be used by many of our customers.  In addition, this role will have the following responsibilities:Essential Functions:Design for scalability; create data models and UML diagrams as-needed.With other senior developers, determine best technologies and framework(s) for the applications.Plan development iterations and schedules.Adhere to assigned project schedules.  Coordinate activities with PM and other project developers.Manage development and test environment: installation, configuration, backup/recover & performance tuning.Coordinate and manage internal and customer integration testing.Optimize performance at server or application levels.Coordinate with Operations for capacity planning, monitoring and diagnostics of production application.Participate in and contribute to internal training and review sessions. Qualifications (Minimum Experience, Education, Training or Skills): 7+ years’ software engineering experience5+ years’ experience developing Java based web applicationsExperience with modern JavaScript frameworks – preferably Marionette, backbone.js and jQueryExperience building OO systems using a structured methodology; experience in Agile Scrum methodology preferredExperience building RESTful Web ServicesExperience building systems using Message Queues (JMS)  - AMQP/Rabbit MQ preferredExperience developing with a modern web framework (i.e. Spring MVC)Experience/knowledge with RDBMS – preferably MySQLExperience/knowledge with NoSQL Databases – Mongo DB, HadoopExperience with building products with features such as fault tolerance, scalability, security, firewalls, proxy servers, etc.Experience with Java based application servers (i.e. Tomcat, JBoss, etc)Ability and willingness to participate in a support rotation for production services.Ability and willingness to adopt cutting edge technologies, such as Scala, Node.js etcExperience with the Typesafe Stack a plus and highly desired (Play!
