Requirements:High school and technical school training or equivalent required, college degree preferred. Five to seven years experience in information systems with two to four years experience constructing logical design models using IE or IDEFIX methodologies. Experience using data modeling and business process modeling tools a plus. OVERVIEW OF JOB:
Responsible for the management of ISO data resources in the following areas: data planning, data development and maintenance of standards, policies and procedures enforcement, logical design of databases and documentation. The incumbent must demonstrate sufficient mastery of data modeling and logical database design to document ISO’s business rules and efficiently design databases to capture and identify all relevant business information. The incumbent must thoroughly understand their client’s business operation, provide the client with data management counsel, and supply solutions that satisfy the clients ongoing business information requirements. Most assignments are independently planned with approval required. Assignments are normally complex and difficult.
Principal Responsibilities and Essential Duties:Data Analysis:
Demonstrates mastery of the skill. Can design a logical data model based on requirements gathered from users and business areas. Develops specifications that describes the various applications and user groups that the data design must support. Is aware how data fits with the corporate data model
Data Base Physical Design:
Can translate a logical DB design into a broad physical design.
Data Planning:
Participates in the setting of data collection standards. Provides input for corporate data model. Plans for the support of new and existing business information needs. Provides input for resource/budgeting requirements.
Data & Process Modeling:
Demonstrates mastery of data modeling in practical applications of a difficult nature. Can design logical data models that support numerous applications and users views. Can use one or more modeling CASE tools. Based on user input can construct context, data flow, and decomposition diagrams.Principal Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
Facilitation:
Demonstrates mastery of facilitation in challenging situations of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of facilitating meetings, processes and operations.
Data Dictionary:
Participate in the development of standards and procedures encompassing the extensibility capabilities of the Data Dictionary and its Directory system.
Client Service:
Interact with end user management on all aspects of projects. Work with senior management on planning, strategy, and development of systems. Develop partnership with business units to identify business issues and develop solutions. Creativity:
Actively seeks opportunities to develop new approaches to meet new goals. Grasps and applies advanced concepts. Stays abreast of new tools, technologies, and techniques, and implements them as solutions to business and technical problems.
Insurance Industry Knowledge:
Use knowledge of the various disciplines within the Insurance Industry to understand how tasks they work allow ISO to better serve the Industry. Links their tasks to department and company objectives.
Oral Communications:
Communicate with users, staff, and top management to ensure mutual understanding of project requirements. Sometimes delivers presentations to users and management on database design.
Teamwork:
Facilitate group discussions. Contribute ideas and constructive commentary during staff meeting. Take independent action to foster teamwork.
Technology Industry Knowledge:
Apply new technology and awareness of technical trends to projects and departmental systems and architecture. Evaluate and recommend new technology for projects and departmental systems. Attend industry seminars and forums.
Written Communication:
Write status reports, documentation, and other written communication relating to necessary program deliverables.
Other Duties:
Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Goals.Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.
